The Call

Welcome to my blog!  For the next 2 years, I will be blogging about my son's, Gabe Burdeos, experiences as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Gabe received his mission call letter last September 14, 2016 but did not get to open it two days after.  He wanted all his family and friends to be in attendance when he opens the letter.  It was a mixed feeling of excitement, joy, and anxiety for us.  He had been waiting for this moment since he graduated from his senior year in high school.  Most of his friends have gone and went on their own missions and now it is his turn to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It was Friday, September 16th, at 9:00 pm when he opened his mission call letter.  He had to work on that day until 8:30 at night and when he got home all of us, including his friends, were gathered in the living room awaiting for him to make the call to open the letter.  Finally, he made the call to open the letter.  We were all nervous and excited for him as we watched him tear the envelope.  He read the letter and we were all joyful to hear that he had been called to serve as a missionary to labor in the PHILIPPINES MANILA MISSION.  He had to report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, December 14, 2016.  My wife and I cried for joy and hugged him tight.  We are happy that he will be serving our own Filipino people in the Philippines.
